Day 23 – Fromista to Carrion de los Condes

Fromista was a normal city and not much to do there. For us it was a sleeping spot and not much else. The woman that ran the house where we slept was very nice and spoke Spanish quickly as if we understood every word. There was one small church/museum open in town so we stopped in.

San Martin
The local panaderia got crowded with pilgrims in the morning.

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures of the beautiful walking paths and scenery. For the most part the Camino moves through farmland  but not always.  Today was a path along the road so not quite as spectacular.

It was like this for over 7 miles.
Grams trying to be a scarecrow.

A few towns on the way were nice. We stopped into one cafe mostly for the bathroom and tried to buy a couple of tangerines. The owner gave them to us for free and wouldn’t take the money.

Don’t ask – I don’t know this guy and I’m not sure what city this is.
Pablo Payo in Villalcazar de Sirga – I don’t know Google it.
He wasn’t wearing a mask so I took mine off.
Condes de los Condes is full of churches – population only 2000..

We have been looking forward to this lodging, Hotel Real Monasterio San Zoilo,  since we planned the trip last December. It is really nice. We knew it was near the halfway point so it is our treat for the accomplishment we will have this Saturday when we walk past halfway.

We are staying in a hotel attached to a monastery.
