Day 16 – Belorado to Villafranca – Montes de Oca

We stayed last night in an albergue that also has private rooms. Ours was private. Belorado is a town that doesn’t have much to offer for this time of the Camino season so we were happy to find out that the albergue owner, Joequin, also was the evening and morning cook. We had dinner and breakfast at his albergue with the other pilgrims staying there served in a small dining area. At our table we had 1 woman from Italy, 2 men from Australia, 1 man from Britain and a woman from Latvia. Quite a diverse group from countries as well as ages. Additionally, this morning, 2 women from Ireland passed us. They are walking the Camino for the 2nd time.

Joequin cooking breakfast. His meals were excellent.

At dinner besides all the normal Camino talk was the buzz about today’s weather. Reports called for cold temps and possibly snow. We were happy to see this morning no signs of snow clouds but it was cold and good for walking. We knew we were going to be fine when we came downstairs and Joequin’s wife was telling everyone “sin lluvia” – no rain.

The woman from Italy is riding this bike for her Camino.

One thing about our North Face jackets is they are warm.

The weather app said it was 39 but it felt like 42.
Shrine on the way this morning.
Villafranca – Montes de Oca appeared as we came around a corner.
The local Church, locked of course like most we’ve come across. This one has cobwebs on the doors.
