Day 4 – Antas to Viana do Castelo

Well we thought our last day before tomorrow’s rest day would be short and quick. Unfortunately we calculated wrong and instead of 8 miles our day was over 11 miles for 6 hours. Add to that we left Antas at 8AM thinking we would find a place to eat but there was nothing until noon.

So if you are keeping track you know that we have walked almost 49 miles in 4 days ( almost 2 marathons)! We are pretty tired and look forward to a rest day tomorrow.

Today’s Camino started more typical of what we were used to – back country, small trails and very small towns. Unfortunately it turned into small roads with cars going by and then large roads with a lot of cars zooming by. It was “bad” Camino. When we got to our very nice hotel the man there assured us that was the end of walking so close to traffic.

Viana do Castelo, where we are now, is a very nice city. Tomorrow is a rest day so tomorrow we do laundry and then hit the sites.

This is Antas where we were last night. Behind these doors was a pretty nice room.
Nice trail but steep. 850 feet of climbing today.
Janice is really trying to focus.
Hard to see but this was a STEEP hill along a dangerous road. MAL Camino.
We had to walk across this bridge. Never let people you love do that. MAL Camino. (Bad Camino)
Once we got to Viana do Castelo (across that bridge) it’s beautiful.
Shopping district. Lovely.
Our hotel. Really nice!
A locals restaurant. Perfect!
