Well… I had planned on starting this post with an April fools joke but when we woke up this morning it was mother nature giving us an April fools joke instead. – Snow and lots of it.
The original plan today was to walk from Villafranca Montes de Oca to Atapuerca a distance of 12 miles (today Friday). Then on Saturday walk to Burgos and take Sunday off. We expected it to be cold but not snowing. So… Change of plans.
If we did try leaving for Atapuerca we would have had to walk the first 8 miles through the back country away from any help. Also complicating matters was cell phone service being down. No cell phone, 8 miles through a snow storm – no way too dangerous. So since we would be in Burgos in a day anyway we changed our plans and took a bus to Burgos a day early. We will stay here and start the Camino on Monday when the weather looks better.
Burgos is a very large city so we should have lots to see. It is also snowing here in Burgos.
