Day 15 – Santo Domingo De La Calzada to Belorado

Well the weather is sort of turning poorer each day. Last night it rained and it was reported that it would be clear by 9am but no chance it rained lightly all day as we walked.

We had a nice place to stay last night in a large bed and breakfast although it is called a hostel. The couple that own the place spoke no English but treated us like family.

Time to get walking. We started out with just coats then we changed as the rain started in the town of Castildelgado. We went full rain gear even though it was just light rain.

The only dry place we could find to put on rain gear.
The town people were smart enough to not be out.

About an hour in we came upon the village of Viloria de Rioja. In most these small villages nothing has been open for business. However in this one, right on the corner as we came in, was an albergue that had a sign for hot tea.

We didn’t expect much but we were wrong!

So wet as we were, we took a break. Inside was a very small kitchen with a woman cooking for pilgrims and serving hot drinks. All she asked in return was a donation. Seriously where else would you find that!

The woman was thrilled that we stopped in. She had a world map on the wall and we pointed to San Diego.

Now on to Belorado and to get dry.

4.2 more miles and then rest.
