Day 11 – Viana to Naverette (rest day)

There is not much to report today as we took a rest day and we transported to Naverette by taxi – 14 miles.

There are a couple of reasons for taking today off and the first being we were tired.  Walking into Viana yesterday on what should have been a short 11 mile day was too hard and our bodies said take tomorrow off.

The second reason is actually beneficial for us also.  If we would have walked to Naverette today we would have had to walk through the very large city of Logrono. It’s very large so most of the day would have been spent walking though a city that we wouldn’t have had any time to sightsee in.  Also we have noticed the outskirts of large cities and even some of the smaller ones are not really places you might want to stop and linger in. Not dangerous but not worth dwelling in.

So we probably will change our Camino philosophy a bit and transport into and out of large cities and pick up the Camino near the edge.

Look for pictures tomorrow of Naverette as we always intended on taking Sunday off here. It is a nice city.  Tonight we will go to the 7:30 PM Mass at the church – Iglesia Santa Maria de la Asuncion.  Dinner is at 9PM at El Figon del Duque.
