Day 10 – Los Arcos to Viana

Distance 11.45 miles 6 hours. 1000 feet elevation

So today we started out around 8:30 and we were both a bit tired. We thought knowing we had a pretty short day might help pick us up but it didn’t and we were dragging all day.  It rained last night but today is nice.

It was odd today because we never saw a single pilgrim for the whole day.  We aren’t sure why but it seemed lonely. Also the first town we were going to come upon, Sansol, was visible 4 miles away and it never seemed to come closer as we walked and walked.

Our stay last night was in one of the better places for Los Arcos. The owner was very kind.  Although the bed was a bit lumpy it was our home for the night and we were grateful. I think we were the only people in the building since she gave us the key to the front door and and told us to lock up when we left.

Not much to say.

Los Arcos really only had one restaurant. We got there early and a Camino couple from Idaho joined us for dinner. Later the restaurant became standing room only.

Sansol in the distance and no pilgrims.

It occurred to us why we might be dragging.  The lumpy bed  last night aside in Los Arcos, we have now walked over 94 miles with just one rest day and in the last 4 days we have walked 2 marathons not to mention thousands of feet in elevation gain. So we have decided to take an unscheduled rest day tomorrow and also take Sunday off (in Navarrete) and then see how we feel on Monday going to Najares.

They look like emergency shelters. We saw several.
Viana in the distance. We were really happy to see our home for the night and know that we had a rest day tomorrow.
Viana at night in the old district (almost 9PM) . Very safe.
In Viana – We lucked into a great restaurant and a semi private room.
This is in Vianna- We chose steak for a really unique dining experience.
In Vianna – Our waiter filled the apple cider.
