Day 11 – Wieliczka Salt Mine

Yesterday was a quiet day to contemplate mankind’s evil side. Today is our last scheduled tour thing and one place we looked forward to visiting

We went deep underground walking down 800 steps. The whole tour lasted a couple of hours and we walked over a mile.  It was really fascinating. I can’t add captions to the photos because there was too much information coming at us. Just know the mine has been there for hundreds of years and the miners carved everything you see out of salt.

Put this one in your bucket list. BTW – they have an elevator for the trip up.

Oh BTW – we exchanged our rental car. That’s a whole different story!

Most extensive set of wood stairs I have ever seen. The use wood because the salt preserves the wood and metal would deteriate.
Everything is salt even the floor
