Day 8 – Tui – O Porrino

it was our first walk day on the Camino in Spain. What a difference from Portugal. The Camino today was so much nicer. Sorry Portugal but Spain really knows how to design a Camino route!

So the rules of the Camino if you want to get a Compostela in Santiago are – you must walk at least 100km in time and geographic order. On the Portuguese Camino the 100 Km starting city is Tui, where we started today (day 8). All the Camino tour companies have their clients start in Tui and it is quite funny seeing the new Pilgrims all excited for their first day. They look like Camino tourists! Not that there is anything wrong with that….but we see taxi’s going up and down the Camino looking for people that want a shortcut.

We walked 12.46 miles today and it seemed easier today than other 12 mile days. Maybe we are finally getting into shape. That said we are 5 walking youdays until we finish. Remember our last Camino? It took us 7 weeks!

The Tui starting point. A bit more than 100km
Difference between Portugal and Spain. Cool tunnels in Spain.
Walking along a road in Spain is safer.
Lots of stuff like this.
Another cool place.
Nice houses too.
