So this blog sort of started out as a place for our 2022 Camino, The French Way. Then I added the 2024 Camino, The Portuguese Way, by adding it to the right hand column. But… now we have traveled a bunch more and this blog is sort of turning into a photo collection of our trips so we can avoid all the social app posting.
Our inspiration for this trip started when we watched “A Small Light” on Amazon Prime – highly recommended.
Just a note – This is not a tour group trip, just me and Janice which we completely planned. So please look at this latest Europe 2025 trip on the right. We are starting in Amsterdam, then to Germany, to the Czech Republic, to Poland, to Slovakia and then back to Poland, airplane to Amsterdam and home!
We will post pictures under each blog post as the day ends (or soon after). It is a big trip with lots of activities so check back often. When we get home we will look into reorganizing the blog in better way – probably after the soon to be announced next trip after this one!
Our Camino(s)
Posted on January 31, 2022 (updated Aug 2022)
In the Spring of 2022 Janice and I walked the Camino de Santiago, following the Camino Francés route from Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. It was an incredible journey of approximately 790 kilometers (490 miles).
We started our Camino on March 16, 2022, and finished on May 4, 2022 – a total of 50 days! Not all of those days were spent walking, although on rest days we still walked a whole bunch! On the Camino we we walked over 420 miles and on rest days we walked an additional 3-5 miles per day sightseeing in our resting locations.
We planned to spend a few days here and there relaxing and enjoying the sights as tourists, and that’s exactly what we did. We were 66 years old then, retired, in good health and ready for whatever challenges the Camino might throw our way, both expected and unexpected.
Throughout our Camino, we posted many pictures each day (or soon after) on this blog. When time allowed and we weren’t too exhausted, we also added stories about our experiences that day. We hope you enjoyed following along with us on our Camino adventure!
